College of Communication & Information

College radio offers something for almost everyone. For some, it is an opportunity to begin developing the skills that can lead to an exciting career in broadcasting. For others, it is a way to enjoy music with friends while developing a stronger sense of self-confidence.

Regardless of the reason, college radio is an important educational opportunity for students from all majors, not just communication. For the past 25 years, WVFS, better known as “V89—the Voice of Florida State,” has been providing this exciting learning opportunity to thousands of Seminoles.

With your financial support, V89 can prepare for Florida State’s next 25 years of college radio. Right now, we are raising funds to upgrade the station’s broadcast facilities and to create scholarships for student leaders at the station. Please help continue the great tradition of college radio at FSU by making your contribution to V89 today.

WVFS Tallahassee 89.7FM—the Voice
of Florida State, provides quality radio programming and real-world, hands-on training for students in all facets of radio operations. Maintaining quality equipment and keeping up with technology are essential for 24/7 live broadcast and top-notch industry training. Many students claim their experience with V89 is the best of their college career!

In today’s technology-driven economy, it takes instruction by world-class faculty as well as experience using state-of-the art equipment to successfully launch Florida State students on their chosen career paths.
Unfortunately, students volunteering at V89 are learning about radio and audio production with equipment that has been used at the radio station for nearly 20 years.
With your financial support, the College of Communication & Information can celebrate 25 years of college radio at the University by raising the funds necessary to update each of V89’s studios with today’s technology.
